River Plate has announced the addition of a new sponsor to the shirt. Taking a look at the picture above from the official launch party, you'd probably miss the new logo, and not because of the girls. PokerStars.net will pay $600 G's per year to place their logo on River's sleeves. As a patron of PokerStars, I can at least take some comfort in knowing it's a well known company which provides a great service. Unfortunately, these types of things undoubtedly raise the fear that the club is inching slowly towards completely selling out. At the moment though, I think it's OK, but if we see a sponsor on the back of their shorts, as is common in the Argentine second division, then we'll really have reason to worry. Plus in this case you can barely even see the logo on the shirt! In the meantime they can keep distracting us with models and their exposed mid-sections.
