We were in Chicago for a day earlier this week, what ? yep, it's only a 13 hour drive from Bergenline Avenue. Well worth it if you haven't tried a 'Whoopskidawg®' before, it's this char-broiled version of a Romanian/Hungarian/Polish sausage, basted in a special BBQ sauce, and served on a Whoopskiroll™ (never had one of them before either), with grilled onion and a pickle. The only downside to this was eating before drinking, as it slowed down the alcohol intake for a few hours.

Red Bull Gives You Binks

Legendary MLS fan Thomas Binkley (Binks, to his mates), has gone from 'Fan Of The Year' in 2006 to the 'Ban Of The Year' (lifetime) in 2008. A verbal altercation in section 109, with a day tripper bitch with a strong sense of entitlement, during yesterdays Red Bulls versus LA Galaxy game at Giants Stadium, saw the one time Red Bulls Front Office favorite escorted off the premises with no less than six yellow shirted security goons in attendance. Lifetime ban paperwork was issued moments later.

No official words from the Binks/Red Bulls/NJSEA camps yet regarding further action although rumors are swirling that Binks has began penning a thank you letter to the NJSEA.

Mooney's Pub, Brooklyn

Mooney's Pub on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn served it's last beers this past Saturday. I remember many, many nights in there throughout the 90's when I lived round the corner on Sterling Place. Open until 4am it was the ideal place to hang out before going upstairs to my apartment. People from all walks of life went in there and there was never any trouble that I saw. This was a time when your bar options in Park Slope were Mooney's, Freddy's on 6th Ave by the Precinct and O'Connors on 5th Ave. No boutique bars in those days, and Bass Ale on tap was as 'foreign' as it got when it came to the beer. Good times.
