Karim Benzema

Karim Benzema was a happy man yesterday scoring the first of two Fremch goals that saw 'Les Bleus' overcome England 2-1 at Wembley Stadium.
The Real Madrid star scored in the 16th minute, and went on to praise the hard work his team had put in.
"There is a real strong team developing and we played a good match," Benzema told Goal.com France post-match. "Today was a big game even if it was only a friendly.
"Everyone makes fun of it [what happened in South Africa], and now it is nice to see how the real French team plays." Anyone think Benzema will still be in Madrid in February ?

Manchester derby

Where are you watching the Manchester derby at ? we'll be in The Wild Rover, a few blocks from our shop, if anyone fancies a pint with us. Neither of us are bothered who wins, we just go for the spectacle of it all ... but mainly for the Guinness. Geordie Bad Boy

Newcastle's 21 year old striker Andy Carroll has had a great start to the season, as have the Mags themselves. Even the most optimistic Geordie wouldn't have had them sitting in fifth at this stage of the season. I think Joey Barton got it spot on today when he called on Fabio Capello to give his team mate a chance in the England team, urging him to give England's 'bad boys' a chance. Andy has earned his 'bad boy' image due to Range Rover's getting torched, 'accidental' pub glassings, broken curfew's and training ground punch ups. Born in Gateshead and sporting the famous Newcastle United number 9 ............. I think he's ready, what about you ?

Napoli's Ezequiel Lavezzi dreaming of Diego

Napoli's Argentine striker Ezequiel Lavezzi is dreaming of wearing the Napoli number 10 jersey which the club retired in honor of former idol Diego Maradona.
“Every Argentine player wants the number 10,” Napoli boss Alejandro Mazzoni told a local radio station earlier today.
“However, that is a decision that only Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis can take. Two season ago Lavezzi was wearing the number 7, which he gave up to Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani following his move to Naples from Serie A rivals Palermo.
